Discover the Story of Stuff at One World Centre cinema night

by isleofman.com 18th January 2013

The next One World Centre cinema night on Friday 25th January will showcase The Story of Stuff, a fast-paced, fact-filled animation looking at the impact of the modern consumer society.

Often humorous and always engaging, the film is about “all our stuff — where it comes from and where it goes when we throw it away” and is part of an environmental project of the same name which started in America in 2008.  It is one of the most watched environmental online movies of all time.

By examining the true social cost of consumerism and built-in obsolescence, the Story of Stuff calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world.  It may also change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

The Story of Stuff will be followed by two other short films from the same project – the Story of Bottled Water and the Story of Change.

The films are being shown at the Alpine Cafe in Regent Street, Douglas with doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.  The event is free to attend but donations to the One World Centre are welcome.

For more information call the One World Centre on 800464 or visit the One World Centre Isle of Man page on Facebook.
