Camera Trap Heads Into Production

by isleofman.com 18th January 2013

Isle of Man Film has announced the first film of 2013 to shoot on the Island.  Documentary chiller Camera Trap is shooting at various exterior locations around the Island from Wednesday 16th January 2013 for three weeks, before moving to Nepal to complete filming in February.

Following a British wildlife film crew armed with the latest camera technology as they pursue local sightings of a rare wildcat in Central Asia, Camera Trap is described by its producers as “atmospheric, visually stunning and terrifyingly real”. Filmed as documentary with an unprecedented level of authenticity, Camera Trap catches the crew both 'on' and 'off' camera as they track down their prey.

The film is the directorial debut of experienced wildlife documentarian Alex Verner who also wrote the script. Camera Trap is being produced by Jason Newmark (Triangle, Severance, Creep) and Steve Christian (Disappearance of Alice Creed, Chico and Rita, TT3D). Camera Trap marks the 101st production to reach the Island’s shores since the film industry’s inception in 1995.

Laurence Skelly MHK, Member for Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Film and Media said:

“We are thrilled to announce another film production on the Island following our new partnership with the Pinewood group announced last year. 2013 is already shaping up to be a busy year for the Manx film industry and our local film professionals, many of whom are busily working on Camera Trap at the moment.”

Isle of Man Film’s Hilary Dugdale added:  “Yet again the Island has provided us stunning film exteriors for this project and there’s no doubt audiences are going to be hooked by Camera Trap. We’ve spent a lot of time planning the visuals of the film; it’s going to look incredible. It’s a really strong crew, featuring lots of home-grown talent so there really couldn’t be a better start to 2013 for the Manx film industry.”
