Simmons to coach Manx next weekend

by isleofman.com 18th January 2013

Cricket legend Phil Simmons will be on the Island next week.

The former West Indian Test star is now a top coach and will be working with the Manx seniors on Saturday and Sunday.

Phil, an explosive all-rounder, played in 169 Tests and Internationals, scoring over 4600 runs and taking 87 wickets.

In 1996 he took Leicestershire to the County Championship with 1,244 runs, 56 wickets and 35 catches.

He is now the highly successful chief coach of Ireland and his visit is an amazing coup for local cricket.

The Manx team should benefit hugely from his vast experience and training talent.

On both days (Sat 26/Sun 27) the sessions will start at the Sports Institute in the morning and then move to the NSC secondary hall from about mid-day.
