Isle of Man Archery Club Report

by isleofman.com 21st January 2013

There was no competition shooting at Onchan Community Centre this weekend as eight coaching candidates were having their assessments carried out by two Archery GB appointed assessors, Martin Speakman and Tim Swane.

The Isle of Man Archery Club is proud to announce that all eight candidates passed their assessment and are now qualified Level 1 Coaches in Archery.  This follows three month's study and coaching practice by the hard-working candidates overseen by mentors Peter Mumford and Joy Gough.

The assessors stated that they were very impressed by the high quality of coaching shown by the candidate coaches and they hoped that some would continue their work and consider working towards their Level 2 badge in the future.  Chairman Peter Mumford said that this represented a big step in the development of the Isle of Man Archery Club and it ensured that all beginners would continue to receive an excellent level of instruction during their initial beginners course.  The new Level 1 Coaches are Alison Cowin, Aalin George, Allan George, Kirsten George, Rhys Moore, Sarah Rigby, Mat Smith and Adam Wright.

On Sunday afternoon all Club members were able to come along to shoot and receive come extra coaching from the visiting assessors.

Next Sunday there will be a morning only competition (10am for 10.30 start) as a large number of archers will be attending the Record Status Portsmouth competition being held by Orrell Archers in Wigan, Lancs.
