Participants sought for Hospice charity challenges

Hospice Isle of Man is urging supporters who like a challenge to sign-up for some unusual events on this year's fundraising calendar.

Thirty have been organised for 2013, to mark 30 years of hospice care on the Island.

For the sporty, there are cycling events and the Parish Walk, a 10km run in Dublin, Newcastle's Great Northern Run and a TT triathlon. 

There are also some 'firsts' - a chance to try ice and fire walking, and an aircraft jump.

Most ambitious of all though is a ride along California's Pacific Coast Highway, from San Francisco to Los Angeles in the autumn, billed as a 'Surf, Celebs and Sunshine bike ride'.

Fundraising chief Mary Doyle says they're always looking for something different:
