Nuisance Hoax Phone Calls

by isleofman.com 22nd January 2013
A number of complaints have been received by local Police from members of the public who have recently received `hoax` phone calls from a company wishing the recipient of the call to confirm Bank Account and Visa Card details.

Specifically the caller a foreign male giving his name as Peter or similar calling from 'SAFE COMMUNICATIONS' and states that following a recent conversation with the recipient ?79 has been debited from the recipients Visa or Bank Card to pay for a device that filters nuisance phone calls.

The caller then states the goods are awaiting posting once the card/account details are confirmed.

This is obviously a ploy to fraudulently obtain Bank details, the Police would advise any persons who receive such a call to ask for the callers details and report the matter to Police Headquarters 631212  or Ramsey Police Station 812234. Under no circumstances should personal Bank details be given the caller.
