With12 callouts and 26 people brought to safety Peel's callouts have almost doubled. A Peel spokesman said "that it was a busy year with many of the rescues carried out in poor weather." Several of the callouts were to kayaks in trouble and it is thought that with more leisure time and more crafts on the water the callout rate may well increase.
Peel all weather lifeboat the "Ruby Clery" is a Mersey class boat manned solely by volunteers who give up their time not only for emergency call outs but also weekly training and testing.
