RNLI callouts and rescues up in 2012

Lifeboat launches from the Isle of Man rose last year, compared to 2011.

There were 47 in all.

Sixty-eight people were rescued by Manx RNLI boats, the highest number since 2009.

The most dramatic increase was at Peel, where 26 people were brought to safety, nearly double the number recorded in 2011.
