Department of Infrastructure workers have been out through the night to clear roads which had flooded yesterday evening.
Many roads across the Island had to be closed or were described as impassable after prolonged heavy rain added to melting snow to cause widespread flooding and landslides in some areas.
All roads affected by floods are open again this morning (Sat) and described as passable with care.
A landslide on the main Road through Foxdale was eventually cleared around 6am
However, there are still areas on many roads that have standing water on them which is deep in places. Drivers are being reminded to drive to the conditions and be prepared to encounter areas of flooding on their journey.
Five roads remain closed due to last weeks heavy snow. These are the Mountain Road between Lheaney Road, Ramsey and the Creg-ny-baa, the Benn-i-pott Road between Barregarrow and the junction at Brandywell on the Mountain Road, the Injebreck / West Baldwin Road, the Tholt-y-will Road and the Druidale Road. All of these closures are due to be reviewed at midday on Monday (28th)
Further snow in the UK has led to problems in the national papers getting to the Island.
Local wholesalers say snow closed the M6 last night trapping the vehicles conveying our newspaper supplies and only the Express, Mail and Star arrived this morning.
Whites add that no aircraft was available at short notice and they now hope to distribute today's missing titles with tomorrow’s papers.
