Weather problems for football and rugby

by isleofman.com 26th January 2013

The weather has been causing some problems for sporting fixtures again.

One of today's big clashes in the first round of the Paddy Power F.A. Cup won't be taking place.

The tie between Old Boys and Peel at Blackberry Lane has been postponed this morning.

Cup holders St. George's tie against Foxdale at Billygoat Park was postponed last night.

However, St. Mary's will be traveling to Croit Lowey in Port Erin to face Rushen who beat them 3-0 at The Bowl in the league a fortnight ago.

The other two leading Premier League teams have trips to Division Two opposition.

Laxey will need to be alert at Douglas Royal who knocked out Union Mills in the last round.

Elsewhere, Castletown entertain Gymns, Douglas & District line-up against Ramsey Youth Centre, Douglas Athletic tackle Pulrose and Colby make the journey north to play Ramsey.

Meanwhile in rugby, the big match for Douglas is also off. They were due to play away at Duckinfield, but that match has been postponed because of snow at the ground in the UK.

Ramsey and Vagabonds are both at home against Oswestry and Wallasey respectively.

Vagabonds women are also in action - they welcome Northwich to Ballafletcher.
