Could Island benefit from Irish wind farm project?

The Isle of Man could become an essential junction and maintenance hub in an electricity grid for the Irish Sea region.

So says Environment Minister Phil Gawne after an announcement a huge wind farm project in Ireland would supply electricity to the UK.

The enormous on-shore turbines are being planned in the Republic of Ireland but would connect to the UK via undersea cables.

Mr Gawne says he’s already had talks aimed at placing the Isle of Man at the centre of the network.
