Grow your own clothes!

by isleofman.com 27th January 2013

Students at a school in Peel have been growing their own clothes using artificial leather.

Year 12 students at QEII High School have been using a mixture of yeast and bacteria to form a cellulose mat which is then dried and used to make garments.

So far, pupils have made waistcoats, aprons, and skirts.

Lesley Sleight, the school’s head of Head of Life Skills, says the students will be using more experimental fabrics in future lessons.
