Rates up in Malew

by isleofman.com 27th January 2013

Malew ratepayers will have to find nearly two per cent extra for village services this year.

The commissioners have confirmed there’ll be an increase of one point nine per cent for the next financial year from April.

However, local authority officials say it should cost the average ratepayer no more than ?5 per year.

They say the phased introduction of further waste disposal measures from April will add nearly ?30,000 to their bill as Malew produces 1,300 tonnes of waste per year.

It will also help meet increased energy costs.
