End of the line for chairlift

A unique relic from the Isle of Man's heyday as a holiday destination is to be dismantled.

The chairlift which once served Cunningham's holiday camp on Victoria Road has fallen into disrepair and its owners have been granted an emergency demolition order.

It was last used in the late 1960s and has been left to decay ever since. Work on pulling it down is due to start this week.

The moving escalator with fixed bucket seats carried visitors between the camp at Little Switzerland and the Promenade.
