Social care's 'cavalier attitude' over council house tenancies

The MHKs for North Douglas have accused the Department of Social Care of adopting a ‘cavalier attitude’ over the proposed shake-up of council house tenancies.

From April, all new tenancies will be reviewed every two years to check whether those living in subsidised public sector homes need them.

In the House of Keys, Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw refuted suggestions from Bill Henderson and John Houghton that the review was a tool to impose eviction.

However, Mr Houghton and Mr Henderson say their questions were designed to ease anxiety amongst tenants:
