Manx Cancer Help Patron and Former World Superbike Champion James Toseland, and bestselling singer/songwriter Katie Melua, are flying over to the Isle of Man this month to support Manx Cancer Help at a special event that will mark the launch of the Charity’s 30th Anniversary Campaign.
The launch event is sponsored by SMP Partners, the Island’s leading independent trust and corporate services provider, and will take place on 28th February at the Manx Museum. His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Mr Adam Wood and over 200 invited guests are expected to attend. There will be a short presentation by Manx Cancer Help CEO Andrea Chambers and Clinical Psychologist Professor Robin Davidson to raise awareness and present service development plans for the future.
Mark Denton, Managing Director of SMP Partners, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our support to Manx Cancer Help. 2013 is a very special year for the charity, and we are very proud to be so closely associated with their 30th Anniversary launch event. As Manx Cancer help is an independent charity, it does not receive any government funding. Events such as this are vital to make sure people are aware of the valuable services they provide, and of course help secure the Charity’s long term future.”
Manx Cancer Help was established in 1983, and over the last thirty years it has provided essential emotional support and expert counselling for cancer patients and their families, carers and friends. Specialist emotional and psychological support is provided by trained and accredited staff, in line with the NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) guidance on supportive and palliative care at levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The charity offer a series of free, confidential sessions both face to face and over the phone to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis, with sessions provided at their Douglas offices or at a client’s home.
Ally Martin, of Manx Cancer Help, said: “We are thrilled to have SMP Partners on board with this event, and are so grateful for their immensely generous support. We are also very privileged to have James as our Patron as he is always willing to support our charity in any way he can, and it is wonderful to be able to welcome his wife Katie to the Island for this event.
“This promises to be a really exciting evening, where our guests will learn more about Manx Cancer Help and how our work benefits the Island community”.
