Northern Spirit wow in Scotland

by isleofman.com 6th February 2013

Northern Spirit is a Ramsey based Youth Group that teaches over 30 children to Baton Twirl and Pom pom dance.

A small team of 9 members have recently been to Scotland to compete in the Scottish Federation Of Baton Twirling Open Competition held in Cumbernauld.

The Juvenile Team won 2nd Place Freestyle team and 3rd Place Pom Team.

The Junior Team won 1st Place Freestyle Team and 2nd Place Pom Team.

In the solo events every member won a finalist placing between 1st and 7th with 3 members winning 1st places in Solo twirl, Fancy Strut and Basic Strut and Poise sections.

We were very proud of all our members who for many it was their first competition away.

We went away with the view that we would just do our best and learn from the experience... and never imagined we would achieve such fantastic results.

Our next competition is on island on the 27th & 28th July between the two other local groups and a visiting team from England.

If anyone would like to know any further info please contact Joanne Cowin on 474710 or mrssquirrel@manx.net.

We have available for charity events for displays all year around.
