Bat Box Building Workshop

by isleofman.com 7th February 2013

The Manx Bat Group are holding their annual Bat Box Building Workshop at Eden Park Garden Centre, Cooil Road, Braddan on Saturday 16th February from 1.30pm, by kind permission of Mr Martin Riley.

Members of the Manx Bat Group will be present to show the public how to make and where to site a bat roost box to help encourage our local bats. Completed boxes will be available for purchase for the public to erect on their own property.

Artificial bat boxes can play an important part in bat survival when many natural sites have been lost.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The event takes place during National Nest Box Week, a similar initiative for birds usually held in the week in which Valentine’s Day falls. It is an appropriate time of year to erect bird and bat boxes in readiness for the coming breeding season.
