Gardeners Event next weekend

by isleofman.com 8th February 2013

Gardeners from all over the Island will be gathering in Laxey next weekend for the annual ‘Gardeners Social & Seed Swap’, where enthusiasts will meet to exchange seeds, sets, crowns, shoots, and cuttings.

The first seed swap, in 2011, was a major success and it is fast becoming one of the most popular get-togethers on the Isle of Man’s gardening calendar.

The organisers stress that the Seed Swap is an informal event for all standards of gardeners, from beginners to seasoned growers.

A spokesman said, “Even if you don’t have seeds to swap please join us for an afternoon of meeting other gardeners and chatting about all things green and growing. This is an opportunity to save some money and maybe try something new.”

The event is open to the public and will take place at Laxey Sailing Club on the quay on Sunday, February 17th from 2-4pm. Gardeners should bring their seeds in labelled envelopes or bags, so that they can be easily swapped and identified.

Any extra seeds left over from the event will be donated to a worthy cause. A raffle is also being held to help towards the cost of the event and raffle prizes are welcome.

Admission is free and there’s ample parking along the promenade.
