All juniors and mini tennis members please note that coaching will not take place over the half-term period, as well as this w/end Saturday/Sunday 9-10 February. This means no coaching or junior club sessions from 16 – 24 February. All back to usual activities from Monday 25.
If the weather is ok the outdoor courts will be available – just remember juniors under 13 must have an adult to supervise.
As yet I haven’t had 100% response from members regarding the LTA British Tennis Membership. A few minutes of your time will save me several hours and will help to increase our Wimbledon allocation for 2014. It’s too late now to increase this year’s number but the committee do want every member to register with LTA British Tennis Membership. Your name cannot go into the ballot for tickets if you don’t have a BTM number.
Our first fund-raiser of the year is tomorrow (Friday) – the Quiz Night is usually a great success and last year raised over ?400 so let’s see if we can beat that figure. There will be a raffle and extra prizes would be welcome.
The quiz masters this year are last year’s winners which were Alistair & Wendy Montgomery, Anne & Phil Bannan, Norman Faragher and Jackie Clague. All proceeds will go to the Special Development Project to insulate the indoor court.
At the moment the indoor court is not being used as much as last year. Perhaps this is because of the cold weather – if so all the more reason to raise the money as soon as possible. The target is ?30 - ?35,000. In the past the club has raised similar amounts for facility developments so it can be done. If you fancy organising an event let me know. Also members are reminded that they can hire the lounge, plus indoor court and coach for birthday parties. Contact Ian Watson if you want tennis included in your celebrations. The IOMLTA Island Games team will be holding a Race Night at the club on Friday 21 June to raise funds to send the tennis team to Island Games in Bermuda. I know that date is a while yet but please put it in your diary and support them on the night.
