Plans to abandon Ebac welcomed by local union

The Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers says the news that plans to introduce a new English Baccalaureate have been abandoned is very welcome.

Education Secretary Michael Gove would appear to have bowed to overwhelming pressure for a re-think on the proposals which would have seen GCSEs being scrapped.

Andrew Shipley says he believes the move will be seen in a positive light by the vast majority of teachers
