Plans to drop work permit requirement for high school teachers

Secondary school teachers applying for work in the Island will no longer need a work permit – should a proposal be backed by Tynwald later this month.

If supported, it will make it easier for the Department of Education and Children to recruit staff from the UK and further afield.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin, whose department handles work permits, says while it’s aimed at addressing staff shortages in some areas, it won't disadvantage Manx workers:
