Commissioners to discuss huge TT event

by isleofman.com 9th February 2013

A huge event during TT looks set to take over a twenty-acre site on the TT course near Creg ny Baa.

Called Motorfest, the event would run from 8am to midnight throughout Race Week, and feature stunt shows, live music and vintage bikes on display.

Organisers have written to Onchan Commissioners, who are due to discuss it at a meeting on Monday.

They describe themselves as TT fans, and claim the TT is losing its soul.

Motorfest says it plans a grandstand to watch the racing, as well as a VIP area offering hospitality and a bar.

A planning application has been submitted to change the use of the fields from agricultural to allow the event to go ahead.

Tina Carter, the event’s commercial director, is also a director of the Mannifest music festival, which isn’t being held this year.

The Motorfest event, however, won’t offer camping or overnight stays.
