Cregneash is a winner

by isleofman.com 14th February 2013

David Wozniak’s stunning photograph taken at Cregneash landed him first place in Simcocks’ photographic competition.

The Douglas based law firm invited all their staff to submit photographs taken on the Island during 2012. The 26 entries were judged by John Phipp, vice president of the Isle of Man Photographic Society and an experienced judge.

Mr Phipp was impressed with the standard and variety of the entries and it took him some time to place the submissions. He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the images. The level of the entries was very high and it made my job of choosing the winners very difficult. David’s photograph was a stunning image with great detail and typical of the Isle of Man croft roof."
The winning photographs were unveiled at a private view at the company’s offices in Ridgeway House and David was presented with a restaurant voucher. Second place went to Chris Arrowsmith with an atmospheric coastal shot, third with a view of Peel Bay went to Robert Lindley and Carol Quayle’s colourful, close-up of a lily was highly commended.

Simcocks chief executive Phil Games said: “Simcocks wants to say a big thank you to John for going to so much trouble with the judging and to all those who entered the competition - there were some stunning images taken around the Island.

“There was a fantastic mix from coastlines to close-up details and panoramic shots. As well as colour there was also some impressive black and white photographs. The competition showed that we have some very talented and creative people working at Simcocks.”

David said: “Photography is a favourite hobby of mine. I enjoy getting out and visiting the Manx countryside to shoot photos when I have spare time.  There are so many stunning places on the Island to visit, so it really is an amateur photographer’s dream.  I would like to thank Simcocks for staging the competition, and I hope we will all be taking part in another one in the not so distant future.”
