Public meeting to discuss Onchan constituency

by isleofman.com 15th February 2013

An Onchan MHK says moves to change electoral boundaries across the Island are well worth exploring – even though his own constituency could be dramatically affected.

A public consultation closes next week on plans to redraw boundaries to create 12 two-seat constituencies for the House of Keys.

Under the proposals, Onchan would face one of the biggest overhauls, with some of the current constituency going into a rural one with Laxey and Lonan.

A public meeting on the issue takes place at Onchan Youth and Community Centre at seven o’clock this evening.

David Quirk says while it’s worth assessing, he’s unconvinced the public wants change.
