Head of MFPO responds to Fearnley-Whittingstall documentary

by isleofman.com 16th February 2013

The head of the Manx Fish Producers Organisation says it's not practical to fish scallops significantly without dredging in some fashion.

Tom Bryan-Brown says the Island's fishermen are always looking for new ways to gather scallops that'll be more friendly to the environment.

His comments come in response to a Channel Four documentary by Riverside Cottage presenter and eco-campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall that criticised dredging off the coast of the Island.

Bryan-Brown says while always open to new ideas, scallop fishermen have to make a livelihood
