Goodwin charges dropped

by isleofman.com 22nd February 2013

The Island's deputy assessor of income tax has had criminal charges against him dropped.

Colin Goodwin was facing two charges of commiting an act against public justice and one of conspiracy.

The prosecution case against 56-year-old Mr Goodwin from Lhon Vane Close in Onchan ended at Douglas courthouse today, when all charges were dropped as the case reached the committal for trial stage.

Mr Goodwin, and Attorney General Stephen Harding, were suspended on full pay last October.

A short statement was issued by the Manx Treasury on Friday evening, welcoming the outcome on behalf of Colin Goodwin.

It added the department looked forward to his return to work in what was a busy and important role.

Meanwhile the case against Mr Harding continues.
