The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Portsmouth round as part of the Club’s Scratch league.
Sarah Rigby was in action once again and in form. The morning session saw her set a new personal best. Encouraged by this and her performance last week, Rigby decided to carry on into the afternoon to shoot a Double Portsmouth and make an assault on the Club record. Recording only one less than her morning score Rigby posted a total of 1159 beating the previous Club Record by four points.
The Gent’s Compound saw only three competitors in action; Dave Moore, Frank Vaughan and Colin Moore. Vaughan had not shot since the beginning of January and was a little off the pace. Colin Moore put in a personal best score but was unable to hold off namesake Dave who took the top spot.
The Gents Recurve had the largest field with seven archers in action. The fight for top spot was between Mat Smith and Tony Hartley with Smith just edging the win in spite of putting an arrow wide of the target. Rob Lott added 11 points to his personal best to take third place.
The Ladies Recurve saw the usual face-off between Barbara Harris and Karen Lott who has had a terrific Indoor Season. Karen Lott finished strongly adding 17 points to her personal best but Harris edged the win by just 2 points.
In the Junior section, Adam Wright shot just below his best to take a comfortable win from Bradley Layton. Rachel Rutherford was the only girl in action on Sunday.
