Ramsey Heritage Centre to Open Soon

by isleofman.com 5th March 2013
The Rotary Club of Ramsey has today announced a further significant investment of over ?50,000.00 in the development of a Heritage and Visitor Centre for Ramsey, which is due to open before the Summer 2013.

The centre will be based in Quayle's Hall on Albert Street. The club is keen to maximise the full potential of the Hall, which has already undergone extensive refurbishment and been utilised in the past few years as a place for temporary exhibitions within the town.

The Rotary Club of Ramsey strongly believes that the history of the North of the Island should be preserved and communicated to both present and future generations of local people and visitors alike.

The centre is being developed using local suppliers and contributors, including Mannin Media, Pete Jones and Sue Woolley. It will incorporate interactive displays as well as static displays and, courtesy of Manx National Heritage, will have a direct link to the new iMuseum.

By the use of technology and interactive displays the club believes that it will encourage all ages from the community to have an interest in the history of the North of the Island, whilst also providing room for displays that can be added to over time.

If you have any pictures, historical artefacts or information that you would like to share with the centre please contact Chris Blatcher on 816828 or email: info@ramseyheritagecentre.im.
