B League

International Divers (8) v Jewel Tech Squash Academy (13)

Target Tools sponsored International Divers suffered a heavy defeat against Jewel Tech Academy at Mount Murray, with a final score of 13 – 8 in favour of the away side. At 5 Divers welcomed back Ian Kelly who was making his first appearance for the side this season. Unfortunately for “Baz”, he was taking on a young, fit and healthy Toby Woolard who had too much for him on this occasion taking the match 3 games to 2. James Ramsey took on Gordon Beresford at number 4 with Beresford winning in 3 straight games. All games were well contested throughout; however Beresford’s experience helped him get through the match unscathed. Divers skipper Adam Corcoran lost in emphatic fashion to Dewald Joubert. Despite taking the first game 15-14, Corcoran had no answer to any of the questions Joubert asked of him in the next 3 games.

The match of the night was between Chris Moore of International Divers and Liam Dixon of Jewel Tech. With both players having a similar style and excellent cardio levels, this was always going to be a tight affair that Moore managed to win in 5 games. Spectators witnessed several 30+ shot rallies and Jewel Tech supremo Carl Abrigt remarked that it’s the best game he has seen at Mount Murray in a long, long time. At number one the cat was left licking his wounds with Divers Gary Corlett losing 3-1 to Mason McLarney. McLarney played some excellent, mature squash and, despite Corlett’s best efforts, McLarney had too much in his locker on the night. This result puts a serious dent in the International Divers title hopes who can only hope that Jewel Tech put in a similar performance when they square up to Island Exhausts in the forthcoming weeks. Well played Jewel Tech!!

Outcasts (6) v Bespoke Recruitment (18)

A very friendly match. At No 1 Mark Henson was first off the blocks with a blistering first game against Shaun Callow. Shaun responded by taking the next 3 but it was close. At no 2 was a classic match with two players of similar style. Long rallies were the theme of this game with Ginty eventually the winner. At No. 3 Graham Parrington put up a good fight but was no match for the Mighty Magnificent Morley [did I get that right Jon??]. At No. 4 Mark Harrop won in straight games while Dean Sowerby and Phil Whittam had a good tussle at No. 5, Sowerby winning 15-14 in the fourth. If Whittam had taken that game it could have been a different story...

C League

Racketeers Academy (7) v The Racketeers (17)
Jewel Tech Academy Tigers (17) v (Mash) New Team (7)

Another win for the Tigers against a plucky Mash, who were unlucky not to get more than 7 points. Dewald Joubert Jnr guested impressively for Tigers beating Beth Jones 3-0. Tigers' Scott Jones then took on Ed Batty. Jones took the first, lost the second and then took the third. It looked like Batty would keep the trend going but Jones came back strongly at the end to win the game 15-14 and the match 3-1. There was some very good squash from both players in this match. Meanwhile the younger Batty, Sidney, was battling with Oscar Hill. Hill won 3-1 in the end but games 2, 3 & 4 could have gone either way with Batty matching Hill’s power with exceptional anticipation and much resilience. Unfortunately with 4 players needing to leave early, Aareez Khan didn't have time to complete his match against Richard Webster (New Team) which was a shame as it looked like it would have been an exciting match. Sam Wilson then played Jess Dawe and looked like he had the match well under control, racing to a 2-0 lead. However, Dawe battled back to 2-2 with some consistent play that rattled Wilson before he recovered to take the fifth 15-9.
