Ramsey Men's Darts Report and Results

by isleofman.com 7th March 2013
The final week's matches were played on Tuesday and already we are looking forward to September for the next season to start as if rumours are correct we could be up past the ten team mark which would be great but as for this year we ended with a week that had everything 180's, high finishes, tons a plenty shock loses and and shock wins.

First up was the Mitre Raven taking on the ever battling RAOB. The famous words by Bobby George couldn't have been used any better than here "scores for show, doubles for dough" as Phil 'the power' Teare hit no less than 5x100 and 2x140 but he lost his pairs game 2-0 to the rejuvenated Ali Shillto and Rob Wheatley which proved to be the only win the buffs lads could gain as the Raven boys showed their metal.  Others to hit good scores were Stevie Radcliffe with 3x100 and a 125 and Charlie Cormode with a 76 finish and was the wire away from 2x180's with 2x135 scores.

Down the road we went to the Bar Logo who entertained the other Mitre team, powering through to a fine 9-0 victory there were no real notable scores but Paul Arthur only hitting 2x100 and 1x140 left him 4 short of Geoff Howland in the race for the most tons, the only one who could catch Geoff now was Jamie Kelly who was playing in our last game, the 3rd placed Plough B, trying to gain revenge for a 5-4 loss to the champions The Stanley earlier in the season.

It couldn't have started any worse for the B'teamers as they lost the first two pairs games but won the last pairs to make it 1-2 going into the singles match ups.  Again not a good start as their star player this year Jamie Kelly was taken out 2 zip by the ever improving Chris Higgins.

Back comes the Plough with Dave Faragher giving Charlie Cover only his 4th defeat of the campaign (his second of the night) this comeback wasn't to last however as the Northern individual Richie Howland and Alex Doddrell did enough to ensure another victory for the Stanley team. Notable scores were 180's from the two Dave's, Faragher and Madden, 4 tons each for Jamie Kelly and Mac MacDonald and for the Stanley 'sChris Higgins with 3x100 2x140 , Richie Howland 4x100 and 2x140 and Jason Smith with a fine 115 finish.

The league maybe finished but we still have three competitions to play for starting with the open pairs on Tuesday 12th March at the RAOB this is a turn up and sign on comp ?2 per pair starting at 8pm, this is followed on Friday 15th March with the House individual in the Mitre again starting at 8pm, this will be followed by the presentation of the seasons awards.

Congratulations to the Stanley for winning the league, Jamie Kelly for winning the house pairs for the third year in a row with three different partners, Richie Howland for the highest finish of the year a fantastic 161 out, Geoff Howland for the most ton plus scores with 62 and Paul Arthur for the most wins with 23 won out of 25 played.
