A company which mounted a legal challenge over the government’s linkspan user agreement with the Steam Packet Company has settled its case.
But the terms of the settlement are being kept secret, hidden behind confidentiality clauses in the agreement.
In September 2007 Seaside Shipping took out a Petition of Doleance challenging the user agreement between the then Department of Transport and the Steam Packet.
But the Department of infrastructure says the petition has now been dismissed after Seaside Shipping, the DoI and the Steam Packet Company came to an agreement.
Under the deal, Seaside Shipping will pay contributions towards the court costs incurred by the government and the Steam Packet.
However, part of the settlement means its terms can’t be revealed – only the fact the case is now at an end.
In a statement, the DoI says it’s pleased the case has now been resolved and Seaside Shipping has withdraw its petition.
And the government says it sought advice to make sure the terms on offer were satisfactory.
