Easter Festical of Running

by isleofman.com 8th March 2013

The closing date for advance entries into the Isle of Man Easter Festival of Running, supported by Celton Manx, is Saturday 16 March. Entry fees for athletes who are paid-up members of an athletic club are ?6 for the 10k road race at Port Erin on Good Friday early evening, ?5 for the Hill Race at Peel on Easter Saturday afternoon and ?5 for the 5k road races on Douglas Promenade on Easter Sunday morning. Unattached runners pay an extra ?2 per event. After 16 March, entries will still be taken up to the date of each race, and will attract a ?2 surcharge per race. Please help both yourself and the organisers by entering early!

A Full Festival package is available at a cost of ?25 for athletic club members and ?31 for unattached runners. This includes entry to all three races, transport by coach to and from the races at Port Erin and Peel, a Festival t-shirt and a ticket to the Prize Presentation and party on the Sunday evening. Full details of the races and entry fees are on the official website www.easterfestival.info. Competitors can enter either online or by downloading and posting an entry form and cheque.

There will be a Prize Fund of at least ?4,000, with prizes being awarded to individuals in various age categories as well as to teams. There are two additional prizes for locals this year, with ?100 being awarded to the best Isle of Man men’s and women’s club teams over the full Festival. This should add extra spice and some friendly competition among local athletes over the Easter weekend. Well over 100 entries have already been received, and it is anticipated that this year’s Festival will attract one of the biggest entries in recent years with confirmed interest from  many University teams and off-island athletic clubs as well as local athletes.

Don’t miss it!
