Doctors’ surgeries will remain open this afternoon (12 March) even though the majority of Island GPs won’t be there to see patients.
They are gathering en masse at an educational and training summit organised by the Isle of Man Medical Society.
Topics of dicussion will include improving the way young people with psychological problems are treated and how best to help people tackle their drug and alcohol addictions.
It follows a similar meeting in December.
GP sub-committee chairman Dr Alex Allinson says the Department of Health has provided cover to ensure surgeries are open as normal and GPs are on hand if needed:
