Keys and LegCo hear Queen's Commonwealth Day message

by isleofman.com 12th March 2013

The Queen's Commonwealth Day message will start proceedings in the House of Keys and Legislative Council today (12 March).

Once down to business, there's a wide range of topics covered in Keys questions.

Three of the nine tabled are from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson, who wants to know what the Department of Infrastructure is doing to tackle damage caused to the Island's public footpaths and uplands.

Elsewhere, Michael MHK Alf Cannan will ask the treasury minister if he's aware of a 'black economy' in the construction industry.

He also has a question for written reply on the MEA's loans and the interest paid on them.

Colin Kniveton's secondment to Sark is the subject of a question from Onchan MHK David Quirk, who also has a query about the chief executive positions in the Department of Economic Development and Department of Social Care.

His Onchan colleague Peter Karran has questions on IRIS - including Meary Veg - and a new sewage treatment works for Peel.

Meanwhile the Legislative Council has the Flood Risk Management Bill for its first reading.

You can hear coverage of House of Keys question time on Manx Radio's AM1368 frequency, and online at manxradio.com from 10am.
