Local fiduciary and fund services group, Abacus, has shown their support to the Isle of Man based charity, Wish Upon A Dream, by donating ?990.25 to its worthy cause.

Wish Upon A Dream, which was established in 2007 as an independent charity, has one main objective - to grant wishes for sick and terminally ill children living on the Isle of Man. Since the charity was launched, many Manx children have benefited from the charity.

Managing Director, Stewart Fleming, said: “I am delighted to be presenting this cheque of behalf of Abacus to the Wish Upon A Dream foundation. Staff at Abacus raised this fantastic amount through cake sales, a sponsored run and our voluntary staff salary deduction scheme.

At Abacus, our Corporate Responsibility Committee is dedicated to seeking out local associations to support as our quarterly charity. I am pleased that we are able to raise money to help various charities across the Island and we believe that Wish Upon A Dream is a special charity which focuses its efforts to support children whose spirits are dampened by poor health.”

Lesley Turnbull, spokesperson for the charity said, “On behalf of the charity I would like to thank the team at Abacus for donating such a generous amount to the Wish Upon A Dream charity. Without charitable donations, sponsorship and annual pledges from the local community and businesses, it would not be possible for the charity to grant wishes to sick Manx children.

Some dreams are to improve living conditions of a sick child which ease their day to day struggles or involve a trip to visit their favourite Disney character. The children that we help are incredibly brave and to see the smile on the child’s face when their wish comes true is amazing.”
