Call to reverse changes to teacher-led nurture groups

by isleofman.com 16th March 2013

Teaching bodies in the Island are calling for the government to ‘reverse’ its decision to overhaul special needs provision in Manx schools.

From September, teacher-led nurture groups - which assist children in need of extra support - could be scrapped with help instead offered by education support staff.

It could also lead to 11 jobs being lost in the department.

Andrew Shipley from the Association of Teachers and Lecturers says it’s a retrograde step.
