Wildlife artist meets wildlife photographer

by isleofman.com 18th March 2013

Celebrated wildlife artist Dr Jeremy Paul has congratulated 14-year-old Adam Peet on his exhibition of photographs at the Tynwald Library.

Sayle Gallery artist Dr Paul, who is also an accomplished wildlife photographer, using the images as reference for his paintings, had recently returned from photographing ‘big cats’ in Kenya’s Masai Mara. On viewing the St Ninian’s High School student’s work he said: ‘Adam is clearly an excellent photographer. When I was 14 I couldn’t take photos of this quality. Adam and I spoke about how photographing wildlife can, at times, be extremely frustrating, demanding patience to achieve the desired shot. I was particularly impressed with a photo he had taken at the Point of Ayre of a turnstone, a bird I have not managed to photograph as yet. Digital cameras may have transformed the way photographs are taken but to achieve a memorable shot, genuine talent, such as that possessed by Adam, is needed.’

Adam Peet is exhibiting a selection of his work at the Tynwald Library until Friday April 5th, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Dr Paul will be celebrating 25 years as a professional artist with a retrospective exhibition of his work at the Manx Museum in September.
