by isleofman.com 18th March 2013

Ramsey’s Mersey class RNLI lifeboat, the RNLB Ann and James Ritchie, was launched at around eight o’clock on Saturday (16th March) to go to the assistance of a broken down yacht three miles south east of Maughold Head.

The thirty foot fin keel yacht with two persons on board, and on passage from Whitehaven to Douglas, was suffering engine failure. The yacht was secured and taken safely under tow by the lifeboat to Douglas Harbour. No one was hurt in the incident. After safely mooring the vessel in Douglas Harbour Ramsey Lifeboat then returned to Ramsey and was back on station by midday.
