Winner of the Manx Cat Story Competition, Megan Kneale, 12, was awarded her prize at a ceremony in Lexicon Bookshop, Douglas, on Saturday 16 March.

Megan was presented with a ?50 voucher and a copy of 'A De-tailed Account of Manx Cats', in which her story appears, by Mr Tony Wild, MLC, representing the Department of Education and Schools.

Awarding the prize Mr Wild commented that Megan had shown great imagination and thought in her story 'Kayt Manninagh'.  He added:  'good writing is so important to good communication in these days of high tech.  Books are a valuable resource and should not be neglected'.

Megan based her story on her own Manx cat 'Laxey'.  Laxey was not able to be at the ceremony, but Troubs, the Manx cat who graced the cover of 'A De-tailed Account of Manx Cats' also graced the prize giving.
