Ramsey RNLI shop on Market Hill, Ramsey will re-open its doors on Wednesday 20th March, in time for the Easter holiday. The shop, situated on Market Hill, Ramsey close to St Paul’s Church, has been temporarily closed for essential maintenance and refurbishment since January. Finally, the work is finished, the paint is dry, the new stock has arrived and the dedicated team of fundraising volunteers is keen to welcome friends, both old and new, and raise funds for the RNLI charity’s vital work of saving lives at sea.
The shop will be open six days a week, Mondays to Saturdays, during core hours, right up until the end of the year. Visitors to the shop can expect a warm welcome, top quality gifts for the nautically and not so nautically minded, seasonal presents, cards, clothing, puzzles, souvenirs, books, CDs and of course the latest skeet about Ramsey’s Lifeboat, the RNLB Ann and James Ritchie and her volunteer crew.
Ms Sue Dexter, who was appointed voluntary manager for the shop in the autumn of last year, said ‘Unfortunately the scheduled repairs and refurbishment to the shop were a little more complex than anticipated so the volunteers have enjoyed a somewhat extended winter break. Thankfully it is all finished now and the message is that we are very much open for business and looking forward to the 2013 season.
‘The shop volunteers are very proud of the part that Ramsey’s Lifeboat shop plays in raising crucial funds for the RNLI. Last year the shop’s taking were in excess of ?30,000, which is brilliant. The shop’s success is very much a team effort that could not be achieved without the shop’s dedicated group of volunteer helpers and, needless to say, yourselves, the public.
‘Of course we always need and are on the lookout for new members to assist with the running of the shop. New volunteers will join the shop’s existing team, who normally work in pairs, for a period of no more than three hours at a time.
‘So please come along and visit us and support the RNLI at the same time. You will receive a very warm welcome.’
