IoM Archery Report - 17th March

by isleofman.com 19th March 2013

The IoM Archery Club met on St Patrick’s Day to shoot a Portsmouth Round as part of the Scratch League. With many archers gearing up for the imminent outdoor season, changes to equipment saw a tail off in the number of personal bests scores set on Sunday.

The Men’s Recurve had the largest field with seven entrants. Tony Hartley was pressed in the early stages by Mat Smith but eventually finished 7 points clear to take top spot on the podium. Smith added 6 points to his personal best score to finish well ahead of Rhys Moore. Rhys carried on into the afternoon session to shoot a Double Portsmouth which saw him add 36 points to his pb for that round.

The Men’s Compound saw a face-off between Dave Moore and Pete Mumford, with Moore just edging the win on this occasion. Sarah Rigby, the lone female compound archer, did not break any records this week but contented herself with posting the highest score of the day.

The only junior to shoot on Sunday was Adam Wright who did himself proud by setting a new pb for the round.
