Cameras to be installed at civic amenity site

A Douglas Councillor says vehicle recognition cameras will be installed at the Eastern Amenity site to stop businesses dumping waste.

Chairman of the site Bill Malarkey says the technology will alert staff to vehicles that come to the site regularly and these will be checked for commercial waste.

Mr Malarkey says it isn't fair on the rate payer to be paying for businesses' rubbish.

The Councillor says the cameras are part of a set of new regulations which will come into play on April 1:
