Local runners in training for this Friday’s KPMG Promenade Relay may be relieved to find that the anticipated event has been postponed due to impending poor weather conditions. A local forecast of gale force winds and heavy rain for this Friday 22nd has forced KPMG’s events organisers to reluctantly reschedule the fundraising relay, to Friday 5th April.
Commenting on the postponement, KPMG’s Paul Cawley reassured fundraisers that it’s not all doom and gloom: “The Met Office reports for the 22 March are very unfavourable; the conditions reported are gale force winds, heavy rain and sub-zero wind chill temperatures. We want the event to be an enjoyable one and these conditions will make the experience miserable for both competitors and marshals alike. Our best approach in such situations is to react quickly with an alternative arrangement.”
He continued: “The Claremont will still host the event, sign-on from 16.30 (race start at 17.30), and host the post-event prize presentation. Promenade transport will still run as scheduled and Manx Timing Solutions will also still operate lap timings. If you need to change your team, withdraw your team or would like your money refunded please email the address below, or give us a call and we will be happy to arrange. You do not need to correct or amend entry forms. If you cannot take part but are happy to donate your entry fee to Rebecca House please also let us know, Rebecca House and KPMG will very much appreciate this. Don’t worry, the weather pattern looks “generally better” in 2 weeks and you’ll be feeling fresh and invigorated after the Easter break. We still look forward to welcoming everyone to the event!”
