Glen Darragh Road and Braaid Road, Marown: carriageway strengthening works

by isleofman.com 21st March 2013
The Department of Infrastructure advises that work is continuing to repair, strengthen and resurface the carriageway of a section of Glen Darragh Road and Braaid Road in Marown, between Ellerslie Farm Lane and the Braaid Roundabout.  This section of road is in very poor condition with the road badly misshapen, cracked and failing, as well as having a number of drainage issues.

The works commenced on Monday 11th March 2013 and are anticipated to last 3 weeks. They consist of the clearing of ditches, gulleys and surface water drains beneath the road, carrying out localised reconstruction where the road structure has failed following which,  the entire road width will be re-laid with a new tarmac surface.  There will also be works to adjust property accesses to suit the new road levels.

A road closure will continue to be in operation for the duration of the works between Ellerslie Farm Lane and the Braaid Roundabout, Monday to Friday, from 08:00 hrs to 16:30hrs daily.  The alternative route for through traffic is via the B35 Garth Road: access to properties may be possible depending on the location of the works at any particular time.
