Heritage attractions open daily for Easter

by isleofman.com 21st March 2013

This Easter is the perfect opportunity for a springtime stroll or a day of discovery, from Saturday 23rd March the iconic heritage sites at Peel Castle, Laxey Wheel and Castle Rushen will open daily 10am to 4pm (until 5pm in high season June to August).

All other Manx National Heritage attractions will open on Good Friday 29th March. Walk the gardens at Rushen Abbey and The Grove as they begin to blossom, or spend a rainy day at the Nautical Museum or the House of Manannan.

More than 800 visitors have enjoyed a visit to Peel Castle, Laxey Wheel and Castle Rushen since doors opened early for weekends in February and March, and particularly popular were the specially guided tours and interactive demonstrations of arms and armour.

Plenty more fun-filled activities will be taking place at the heritage attractions over the Easter break. A family favourite is the annual Egg Rolling Competition at Cregneash on Easter Monday 1st April at 2pm. Bring along your decorated hard boiled eggs, where there will be prizes for the best decorated and furthest rolling eggs. Brave knights and princesses are invited to join the Castle Rushen Dragon Egg Hunt from Friday 29th March to Sunday 7th April.

With local school children and students receiving their new ACE cards, kindly supported by Lloyds TSB, a family day out is great value. Admission charges to the Manx National Heritage sites remain unchanged for the 2013 season and local residents planning to undertake multiple visits are encouraged to join the Friends of Manx National Heritage or purchase a Season Pass, which provides access to all Manx National Heritage sites for only ?20.

Visit www.manxnationalheritage.im for more details on money saving tickets, opening times and special activities and events.
