by isleofman.com 25th March 2013

Heavy congestion is expected on all major routes into Douglas this morning (Monday).

Infrastructure chiefs are asking if you start your working day either later or earlier then it would be appreciated.

The Department recommends the following routes into Douglas:

• from Ramsey, Kirk Michael and the North via the Laxey Coast Road;

• from the South via the New Castletown road; and

• from Peel and the west via the main Peel to Douglas road;

Traffic lights are being manned at Ballacraine and Onchan to try and increase the flow of traffic.

The road from Kirk Michael is open and passible with care to the North only - Cronk Y Voddy remains closed and impassible

The Switchback also remains closed.

Access to residents is possible into Foxdale via the Ballamodha and St John’s, though the road is in very poor condition and down to single track in places. No through traffic via Foxdale.

Access is also possible for residents to Glen Maye and Dalby from the North only. The road to Dalby is particularly difficult and a single track for the majority of its length from Glen Maye.

The Cooil Road to Braaid is open but Foxdale to Braaid remains closed.

The Mountain Road remains closed.

Once again the Department thanking the public and the emergency services for their support through this difficult period.
