Hundreds still cut off by snowfall

by isleofman.com 25th March 2013

There are still up to 300 Island residents without electricity this morning (Monday) – some entering their fourth day without power.

Round-the-clock work is continuing, led by MEA engineers and infrastructure workers.

Parts of the west remain completely cut off due to snow but staff are working to restore electricity supplies, while infrastructure teams clear routes to allow them access.

Supplies were restored to Eairystane, Ronague, Laurel Bank, and Jurby Church overnight.
Work is underway in the Curraghs and Stockfield Road at Cronk y Voddy.
All homes in Barregarrow, Sartfield and Fleshwick should have power restored by the end of this evening.

However, the Authority predicts it could still be another few days before supplies are back on in areas of Abbeylands, the remaining parts of Cronk-y-Voddy, Ballaugh Curraghs, between Ballaholly and Ballcrye and from the Ballacallin Hotel to the Lhag.

If you are in need of assistance, you’re asked to call 687687.
