Farming industry counting the cost

Farmers in the west of the Island are facing a significant loss of livestock as a result of the freezing weather.

Sheep have been found perished in exposed fields and the loss coming midway through lambing includes new-born animals and pregnant ewes.

It's a distressing situaiton for farmers, some of whom are also concerned about cattle in calf.

Manx Radio's Countryside presenter John Kennaugh says the consequences of losing stock at this time of year are serious:
