Mary was delighted to receive a cheque for ?1,000 which was the proceeds of an auction held at the cafe.

The auction was held on Saturday February 23. Auctioneer Mr Noel Cringle did a fantastic job of raising the much needed funds for Hospice.

Owners of the Whistle Stop cafe thanked all the local businesses for their support by donating the prizes. These included Womenzone Gym, the Station Hotel, Port Erin chippy, Harrisons shoe shop, Port Erin Post office, Shoprite Port Erin, Thompson Travel, Franklin's Cars, Mal's Butchers, Falcon's Nest, Ken Quine, Erin News, Port Erin Pets, Cuts Both Ways, Clear Pharmacy and Trend, Bushy's Beer, Mann Vend, Robinsons,  David Silvester of The Studio, Colby, Young Generation, Chequers, Cosy Nook Cafe,  Manx Inspirations and Massage on the Move.

Judith and Paul also donated vouchers to be used in the cafe. Judith added: "We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the community in Port Erin, who not only donated items but supported the auction and bought the items! "One of my team in the cafe had sadly lost her husband recently and knew firsthand the care and support the team at Hospice had provided for her at this sad time so it was important to do something and give something back." "We were thrilled to have raised ?1,000 in this way and thank everyone for getting involved."

The Whistle Stop cafe is open all year round and customers are assured that they will receive a warm welcome, yummy cake and a great cup of coffee or tea!
